We recommend that you choose a lifetime warranted fastener since they will need to withstand direct exposure to the elements for the life of your roof.

Concealed Fastener Roof Systems

Smith Built recommends that you purchase corrosion resistant fasteners. Since the fasteners on this roof type are concealed and protected by the panels, climate conditions play much less of a damaging role in their performance.

We buy wood furring strip boards in significant quantity so that we can pass the savings on to you! What we provide is far more affordable than what is found in the major lumber and home improvement centers. Our wood provides great performance at a great price! Key performance criteria are these:

• All of our boards are Southern Yellow Pine and meet all of the requirements of local building codes.
• Our boards are untreated – treated lumber can be corrosive to metal and may void the manufacturer’s warranty.

The installation of 1” x 4” wood furring boards can be done over existing asphalt roofs, on top of plywood roof decking, or over open rafters. They add strength and integrity and provide an efficient dead air space to help combat against intense heat.

For your convenience, we also stock suitable deck screws in bulk for the installation of these boards, as well as matching square drives.
